Our Story
The Story of ALTA ORLA
In Texas, the air is rarely empty. Cedar pollen drifts in heavy as early as September through mid February. Oak and ash follow in early spring. Ragweed closes the year. Then the cycle repeats. More than 82 million Americans experience seasonal allergy symptoms and we know the pollen does not stay outdoors. It clings. It travels home in the hair, settles into pillows, lingers between wash days. It builds what feels like a halo around the people who refuse to stay inside.
No one had named that halo. No one had built a hair product to address what the hair collects from the air.
ALTA ORLA was built to do exactly that.
A name with a lineage.
ALTA is where it gets it's Texas roots. It belongs to a quiet tradition of women in this state who built a relationship with the land that was both reverent and active. Women who planted, restored, and beautified. Women who treated public space as a place worth protecting because everyone shared it. Their work made the open landscapes of Texas more livable for everyone who came after.
ORLA is the Irish word for golden princess. It carries forward what matters most: the next generation, the inheritors of the world we are building right now.
Together, the names hold both directions at once. Honoring what came before. Protecting what comes after.
The standard we are building toward.
ALTA ORLA is a hair science brand inspired by nature. Every formula begins with a defined environmental purpose and is built from nature derived ingredients researched to provide a solution, a defense.
We are committed to sourcing with intention, to packaging with restraint, and to building a brand whose footprint is small enough to belong in the world it was made to protect.
